Whoever associated a simple life with a frugal life was missing part of the message. I try to live a simple / simpler life, but that does not mean that it has to be frugal. I have NO desire to live high in the mountains in a log cabin without hot water. A swimming pool or a hot tub /Jacuzzi is just fine, as long as there is somebody to clean it!

When I refer to a simpler life, I mean a less-complicated life. No Tele-marketers, less Spam, less distorted mass media in general and less politics. For an increasing number of people, those goals create a very good reason to pack their bags and go to live abroad.
Many studies prove that living a simpler life can help to reduce stress (and save money) as detailed in this report on compensatory consumption.
There are a few lists of motivations for living abroad in the Living Abroad section of this site, so I will not repeat them here.
