US Government pressurised UK to adopt Air Marshal idea. Safety factor remains in doubt...
The US Government pressurised David Blunkett, current UK Home Secretary and former Education Secretary and Alistair Darling; the Secretary of State for Transport, to put armed Air Marshals on board US-bound flights.
Blunkett, who recently was the flunk-it on the TV programme Mastermind, after he gained one the lowest ever scores in the general knowledge category, did achieve an average score in his chosen subject of Harry Potter! His knowledge of ballistics and security was not tested.
Calabamat posts the questions posed, so that you can judge your general knowledge.
John from the Daily Irrelevant reports today, that the British Air Line Pilots' Association (BALPA) has written to those responsible for authorising the Air Marshal plan requesting an urgent meeting. BALPA, that was not informed of the measure before it was announced to the press, believes the plan to be dangerous and flawed.
If you agree with BALPA or would prefer to wait for the outcome of the discussions, then it might be best in avoiding flights to or via the USA.
I for one have no desire to travel on an aircraft with an armed person in the passenger compartment.
