The similarities between the CAPPS (Computer Assisted Passenger Pre-screening System) and Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tale "The Emperor's New Clothes" would be laughable if it were not so sinister.

If you remember the story, it was about two sinister rascals who sold the Emperor a suit of nothing - he was naked!
Look! The King has new clothes. Look! Look! The King has more new clothes. Look! Look! The King loves new clothes.
Since the airlines (our suppliers) are now giving (our) personal passenger data to government bodies, we are practically naked anyway.
Dave Winer commented on his web site before boarding a long flight, "Got a bad cold, coughing, sneezing, sniffling. Luckily there's no one sitting next to me, according to Orbitz." He probably didn't think twice before writing that comment, but as a 'naked traveller' they knew that anyway... or was it his cologne?
So with a few good contacts in the right places, I should now be able to get the telephone number, email and more personal data of my neighbour from my last flight. She didn't want to give it to me, but now that it's public information it should be easy. Hmm...
This post is written as a prelude to more details on how we are being robbed of our personal privacy.
It would be laughable if it were not so sinister.
